Alltså allvarligt… Jag såg just nån repris på 7:an av ett program Bert Karlsson har där de pratade om fildelning. […] there’s more! »

I was just browsing around on youtube on a lunch break the other day when I came upon the music video for Ichirin no Hana by HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR. It’s been used in the Bleach anime. I recognized the song, but I had never bothered to look it up. It’s a very good song. I’m definitely looking into this band’s music now. I really enjoy finding new artists to listen to and it’s even more satisfying if I stumble upon them more or less by accident.

Here’s an MP3 of the Ichirin no hana as well as YUI’s Rolling Star, which is the current opening theme song for Bleach.

Dermatologist tested

I recently bought some Neutrogena skin-care products and on each item the text “dermatologist tested” is printed. So, the dermatologist has been tested, but what about the product? Not that claiming that a product has been dermatologically tested has any real meaning, but saying “dermatologist tested” is just silly. Aah, I feel so much better now :)

New character

If you follow the Bleach anime you probably already know these things. However, I’ve been catching up on my Bleach watching after lagging behind for a while. Finally the Bount story arc is over and the new intro of the anime looks very promising! First of all there’s a new exciting character. I haven’t gotten to the episode where she’s introduced yet, but she looks exciting. And then Rukia has her own shikai. It looks very cool. Hopefully both the new character and Rukia’s shikai “mode” will be in the new Bleach game for the PSP, but from what I’ve read I doubt it. I’m happy about where the story in the anime is going though.

I found the Bount arc pretty boring and I didn’t care much for the Bounts’ dolls. Especially Daruku. To me she was like one of those boring monsters in Inuyasha. I guess I’ll be up to date with the anime in a couple of days. Argh! Then I’ll have to wait a week between each episode again ;)

They changed the introduction sequence again in episode 112. Now they show more of the current story. I suppose the previous intro was sort of a teaser for what’s to come in this story arc.

supairaru esuke-pu

I’ve been listening to the Japanese singer YUI for a while now. One song I like is Spiral & Escape. Until recently I hadn’t reflected on the title of the song. Then suddenly I heard that she’s actually singing “Spiral escape”. I thought it was something in Japanese followed by “escape”. Now I hear that it’s “supairaru esuke-pu” and I don’t know if I’m just damaged from my years of listening to Japanese music or not, but I think it sounds cool!

I’ve never been annoyed with the use of Engrish in J-Pop songs. I’ve always thought it to be cute or at least acceptable. It’s interesting when the words have been warped in such a way that they have many more syllables than the original ones, so if you try to sing the song using the real English words you realize that it cannot be done. Spiral & Escape is an example of that. There are plenty of other examples, but I just can’t think of one at the moment. Ah, wait, in Ai Otsuka’s Smily, for example, she sings “rabuu rabu day”. I don’t know about you, but I actually like it :)

Last week I attended a series of lectures/presentations that were a part of a “kick off” for the company where I work. It gave me some serious flashbacks from my days at the university sitting there in rows staring at a projection with charts and bullet lists. As I was sitting there I started doodling […] there’s more! »

There are certain phrases that appear more and more frequently for each season of the TV series 24. Why not make watching 24 with your friends a little more interesting? ;)

Within the hour

Here is how the 24 Drinking Game works: Every time a character utters the words “within the hour” you take a shot of alcohol. These words are only used in the beginning of the episode, so unless you are watching multiple episodes in one go you’ll need some more rules. As the episode goes on the use of “in approximately 10 minutes”, “in 10 to 15 minutes” and similar becomes more frequent. Take a shot for each time you hear anything like that. To make it interesting you can challenge your friends to find other repeated patterns in the dialogue (which shouldn’t be that hard :P ). Also, take a double shot each time Jack Bauer tortures someone.

I just installed the Firefox Add-on FireBug. It’s an amazing piece of software for web developers. You can basically load any page and edit the HTML and CSS on the fly. I’ve only tried it out a little, but so far it works like a charm and offers much more than the Web developer tool bar that I’ve been using until now. It will be interesting to see how FireBug holds up in a “sharp” situation. My expectations are sky high. It’s amazing that software of this calibre is free.

edit: However, it seems that FireBug has a huge memory leak because both me and a co-worker installed FireBug last week and left our computers on over the weekend and today (Monday) Firefox was using about 600 MB RAM (out of 768). Theoretically it could be because of something else, like another add-on, but I find it most unlikely.
