Today I finally finished Final Fantasy X. I had a great time playing the game. At first I didn’t know what to think about the battles being turn based, but I quickly learned to like it. I’ve started playing Final Fantasy X-2 (as well as Final Fantasy XII) which has an active battle system and, though I’m sure I’ll get used to that too, I will miss the game play in FFX when I could have some tea and a sandwich in the middle of a battle (I even defeated Seymour the last time while half asleep - I dozed off, woke up briefly and issued a command and dozed off again ).
I’ve finished other games before (only a few though) but finishing a game like FFX feels so much more satisfying. Now I’m excited to see where the story goes in FFX-2.I managed to defeat the final boss on the third attempt. But the second attempt shouldn’t count because I was using Kimari’s overdrive and tried “self destruct” for the first time. I thought he would sacrifice a lot but not all HP to damage the enemy, but instead he disappeared and left me with only two “slots” for the other characters. For the second form of the boss I used aeons in overdrive together with Yuna and Rikku using “holy” and Auron using “mental break”.
I thought you’d be able to save the game after completing it to be able to watch videos and such, but I then found out that you could buy the videos in Luca. I loaded my last save game and when I was collecting gil to buy the videos I came across the cavern of the stolen fayth (the aeon Yojimbo). I didn’t hire him because I wanted to spend the gil elsewhere (videos), but it would have been great to have an extra aeon during the final battle. Getting through the cavern of the stolen fayth was super easy, but I didn’t know it existed.
But I’m a bit worried about how long it will take to finish Final Fantasy X-2. I read on IGN that it’s 60-80 hours of gameplay. They said FFX would be about 50 hours and I spent over 90 hours on it. But then again, it’s only a fraction of how much time a friend at work has spent on World of Warcraft…
