Bushido Girl

Today when I came home from work, two big boxes were waiting for me on my doorstep (the postman leaves the packages there for some reason). Among some other items were two new figures to add to my small, but growing collection.

The first figure is Bushido Girl by Wave. I liked this figure when I first saw it online. The face isn’t very detailed, but I like the sword and armour. I took some pictures, but they aren’t that good. I bought a new 150W halogen work light, but it isn’t enough and the light is too warm. But it’s an improvement. And it was cheap. The daylight lamps were too expensive and the 500W lamp they had would probably melt the figures.

The second figure is the Metamo Yuki Nagato neko version by Bandai. “Metamo” means that it changes colour depending on the temperature. The clothes, ears and tail turn black below 16°C and white above 30°C. Within that range the colours stay the same. At first I wasn’t sure whether or not I would buy this figure, but I was so curious about the metamo feature and the figure looked good enough, so I ordered it. I actually like it more than I expected. It’s very nice.

I made the dress white while keeping the rest black. It took a while to make the colour change, because the figure had been outdoors the whole day (waiting for me to get home from work), so the figure was pretty cold. I then used an ice pack (or whatever it’s called) to reset the black areas that I accidentally turned white. You can see in the photos that there’s some black left on her shoulder straps that I missed. The white is slightly pink in certain areas. The light I used for the photos (as well as the backdrop) emphasizes this a bit. In daylight it’s not as apparent.

Sorry for the rushed photos, but I wanted to post them while the enthusiasm lasts ;)
