After watching BoA’s Eien PV, I have been wondering what kind of headphones she was wearing. They look pretty neat.
I’ve been meaning to get new headphones because the ones I have (Sennheiser PXC-250), although fine to use on the train, aren’t all that portable. I was looking at the Koss KSC-75 headphones. I’m sure they sound good enough, but they’re just not especially attractive.
So, I started looking around for headphone models that look similar to BoA’s. I came up with a couple of Audio Technica headphones that were somewhat similar, but not exactly the same. I then found out that BoA has done commercials for Audio Technica and that she used their equipment during her THE FACE tour, so I was pretty sure that it was Audio Technica headphones she was wearing in the PV.
If you look at the screen caps below you can see that the headphones have a semi-transparent “ear loop” (not sure what they’re called), they are white on the outside and black on the inside, have a white cord and the hinge that the “ear loop” thing is attached to is not white.

After browsing Audio Technica’s Japanese website I found a model that looks just like the ones BoA is wearing in the music video: The ATH-EQ300M WH.

As far as I can tell these aren’t for sale in Europe (and definitely not in Sweden), but I found a place in Korea where you can order them. I really need some new headphones right now, so I thought that I’d take a gamble and order these ones. They’re not overly expensive (about $25 incl. shipping), so it’s not that big a deal if they’re no good. We’ll see what they sound like if and when I get them

Unboxing the ATH-EQ300M headphones
…
Today I got my the Audio Technica ATH-EQ300M WH headphones that I ordered about a week and a half ago from Korea. This is presumably the same model of headphones that BoA wears in her Eien PV.
The headphones came in a rediculously large box, so I thoug…

I have tried some of Audio Technica headphones and they were all nothing but terrible. I currently use in ear headphones from Sennheiser (cx 985 and IE 80) and they are awesome(implied that they are relatively costlier than AT counterparts, but still…). One more thing I have noticed in case of j pop and k pop that they are not as demanding in terms of audio equipment used(weather it is headphone or speakers or what so ever). My cx and IE sound just same for most of the songs falling in aforementioned genres.

Audio Technica hasn’t been sold here until recently. I listened to a few headphones at a store and they didn’t appeal to me much. Granted, those were mid-priced headphones. Their more expensive IEMs are supposed to be good, but I’ve never tried them. I was happy with my Denon C551’s until they broke a while back.
