PS3 firmware 2.70 provides better DivX support

Today I was prompted to update my PS3 firmware to version 2.70. Every time I upgrade I try some video files I have on my harddrive that haven’t worked on the previous firmware. Many of these videos are seemingly correctly encoded DivX videos that the PS3 has refused to play. After this update it can play almost all DivX videos 
There were some other new features too, but I don’t really care about them

oddly after this update (2.70) all my divx and xvid movies STOPPed working.

I’ve read that some people have had problems, but it’s had to do with streaming and network drives, not playing the files from a USB-drive connected to the PS3. So it’s probably not the video format support that’s your problem.
