Training
I just started practising martial arts again. I haven’t done that in several years, and haven’t worked out at all in about 2-3 years (if you don’t count riding a bicycle).
Last weekend I decided that I needed to “do something” and I got the idea to try Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Luckily the club was just starting a new beginner’s course and I even got a friend to join me. He wanted to try muay thai rather than BJJ, so we decided to try both.
I just finished the fourth class this week (2 muay thai and 2 BJJ) and I’m exhausted, but I feel great. Tonight’s BJJ class was great. I didn’t feel as awkward as the first time (I haven’t done any grappling in a loooong time) and it was a late class so I had time to eat properly before.
It remains to be seen if I manage to get out of bed tomorrow though
We’ll see how long I can keep training 4 times a week. I’m not used to training that often (or, for the past couple of years, at all), but right now I can’t choose between BJJ and muay thai, so I’ll try training both as long as I can (it’s the same price no matter how many styles you train).

This sounds really cool.I too was thinking about and considering to take martial arts…but I am a little concern with the training. Maybe if I try it, I’ll like it. Anyways good luck and have fun with the skills of “kicking butt” : )

Thanks. I hope I can keep this up.
In what way are you concerned with the training? Do you mean the risk of injuries?

Sorry for the late response. I seem to be having problems with my computer. but yes that is one of my concerns. I broken lots of my fingers and my arm.

I can see why you’d be concerned. I haven’t broken any bones though (knock on wood).
The thing that worries me most about BJJ is injuring a joint (knee, shoulder, etc.). I tried shoot fighting many years ago, but chose not to continue for that reason.
With Thai boxing I’m mostly worried about breaking my nose.
My body hurts so much today because our muay thai instructor “punished” us the day before yesterday. Because there were no questions at the end of the class, we had to do push-ups, sit-ups and high jumps the remaining time
(ow)
Today I bought a “starter kit” for Thai boxing (gloves and stuff). I’ll see if I have time to fix the mouth piece for tonight’s class, otherwise I’ll start bringing the stuff to practice next week.

Wow you are so lucky, lucky,….. LUCKY!!!!
I got most of my injuries from playing basketball and football with lots of guys… and me being a girl they didnt go nice on me at all
. They played with me as if I was another guy.
I guess I had it coming to me anyway since I was a girl playing in a guys world. But I gotta admit though, it was fun when my turn came around to illegally block or tackle one of them back.(but nothing too serious, afterall I am a girl who acts accordingly);)
Man you are so lucky. Give me some of your luck. lol
