I’ve once again gotten back into figures. I’m still waiting for my Good Smile Saber Lily Avalon, which will finally be released at the end of this month. I’ve also bought another display case and some LED lights to light up each shelf. I was planning on displaying only a few figures and rotating them, but now I’ll try to display most of them at once if I can arrange them in a tasteful manner.

I’m a fan of Shunya Yamashita’s designs, but I’ve opted out on some of the latest figures, since they haven’t seemed as nice as I would’ve liked. But now they’ve started taking pre-orders for the mother of all Shunya Yamashita figures: Hattori Kiriko Ninja version.

Kiriko

The design is great. I really like the face, and the fact that the boobs aren’t as humongous as on the recent Emaretta figure. The thing with this figure is that it’s huuuuge. It’s 1/5 measuring 34 cm tall. I rarely even look at figures over 1/7 (I prefer 1/8s). I had to measure my display case (Detolf from Ikea) to see if it’d even fit. There’s about 4 cm to spare. Luckily I’m installing the LED lights or the figure would be melted by my old halogen spotlight.

Kiriko

The figure is sculpted by Mitsumasa Yoshizawa (REFLECT), who also did the (by comparison small) Non-non figure. Here you can see a prototype of the Kiriko figure next to Non-non for reference:

Here she is superimposed in my display case :) (not really the correct angle or lens):

Perhaps it’s clearer with a (34 cm) measuring tape and a narrower angle lens:

It’s also hugely expensive, but I don’t think I can resist it.

Kiriko is from something called Enka Oudo Dai Shogun, which is a project that’s co-founded by Shunya Yamashita and is based on his artwork. It will be artwork, manga, figures and an anime.

I’ve also pre-ordered some other figures that seem nice:

Orchid Seed Shiina Kanon (NovemberDecember):

Kotobukiya Kobato (design by CLAMP) (December):

Figma Saber Casual Wear version (October):

The last one kind of depends on whether or not I like the Figma Saber Armour version and Figma Kanu Uncho that I’m expecting.

Oh, I also bought the Banpresto Nelliel (Bleach) off eBay (I already have Soifon and Yoruichi). I had totally missed that it had been released (it was released when I was busy moving), so it had already sold out in regular stores. Apparently there’s a 1/8 Nelliel coming soon too.

Let’s end this post with a picture of Good Smile Saber Lily Avalon:
