This weekend the Japanese artists HITT and Minx Zone performed in Sweden at a thing called UppCon. I didn’t manage to get a ticket for the whole thing, but one of Minx Zone’s performances and HITT’s concert were free for everyone.
Unfortunately I missed Minx Zone’s performance. I was so mad ! I heard them playing as I got there, but then it was over before I had gotten in . They sounded pretty good too, from what I heard. At least I saw them at the signing (which also was over when I got there).
I did, however, see HITT’s performance. I was a bit sceptical before seeing and hearing him perform (Minx Zone seemed more up my alley), but he was really good. Great energy on stage and connection with the audience.
Afterwards I went and got one of his CDs signed. They must have underestimated his popularity because his new album had sold out by the time I had made it to the front of the queue, so I got his mini-album instead. I was so tired when I finally got to the signing table that I couldn’t think of anything useful to say, so I just said “arigatou gozaimashita” and shook his hand .
There were also a lot of cosplayers at UppCon. Some had very elaborate costumes. Most were cosplaying as characters from Naruto, Bleach and Final Fantasy and pretty much the rest had lolita or gothic lolita outfits.
There was a market there where they sold manga, plushies, figures and stuff. They didn’t have any really good figures that I could see. They had some Sega EX figures but the prices seemed pretty high. To quote Apu from the Simpsons: “Look at this crazy mark-up, you magnificent bastard, I salute you.”
