Eclipse

I just came back from the cinema after watching The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. I didn’t watch it on the premiere (yesterday) because I couldn’t get a good seat (I got the best seat today). I didn’t get the notification that the tickets were going to be released until the day after I had already purchased my ticket (great service  ).

This was the first of the movies where I had actually read the book before watching the movie. I actually found it a bit distracting at first. I was comparing what was going on on the screen with my recent memory of the book too much. There were plenty of scenes that weren’t in the book. I liked Eclipse — I was smiling when I left the cinema, so it can’t have been too bad.

The cinema visit was pretty much a reprise of when I watched New Moon last year. All girls, me, a few reluctant boyfriends and a couple of parents for the youngest Twilight fans. It was fun though, there were many scenes where the audience laughed and some where they applauded (guess which). However, I think everyone had bought extra loud snacks. There was a constant rustling sound throughout the theatre. At first I thought there was something wrong with the sound system, but it was just the accumulated snacks noise  .

When New Moon came out it was first rated at 15 years or older due to the violence, but they had to lower it to 11 due to public demand, so they went straight to an 11 year rating for Eclipse, although it’s quite violent.

I just checked the rating on IMDb and the tens vs. ones war that started with New Moon seems to be continuing here. I find the whole thing ridiculous. People who rate this as a 1 (or a 10 for that matter) seriously need to widen their horizons.
