November 2010

I finally found another T-ara song that I like :) . 왜 이러니 (Why Are You Being Like This/wae ireoni) is their latest song and the video features their newest member Hwa-young.

Since I haven’t been following T-ara before, I don’t really know who is who yet. I pretty much only recognize Ji-yeon and, to a lesser extent, Bo-ram.

I picked the cutest girl for the thumbnail picture, […] there’s more! »

Aya Hirano (平野綾) broke through as the voice of Haruhi in the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. She also did Misa’s voice in Death Note.

She’s also a J-Pop singer, as proven by the video below :) .

Fukai Mori (深い森/deep forest) is the first song many Western DAI fans came in contact with, since it was the second ending song for the anime series InuYasha.

That’s not how I started listening to DAI though. I first saw them on an a-nation concert VCD (yes, VCD, lol) that I had gotten because I had just started listening to Ayumi Hamasaki. I tried watching InyYasha later on, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Enjoy :)

This video was requested by MrJigoku666. It’s BEAST’s latest.

I checked out some of their stuff after seeing them collaborate with 4Minute in Who’s Next, but based on the songs I’ve listened to they sound completely different from the collaborations. With 4Minute they had more of a hip hop-ish style, but their regular stuff has a pretty typical pop boy-band sound.

KARA was originally intended to promote Jumping in Korea before the Japanese release, but (according to what I’ve heard) Seung-yeon injured her spine while working out  so the Korean promotion had to be postponed until after the Japanese release date.

The Korean version of the video is very similar to the Japanese version, but it’s shot a little differently and has a few new scenes.

I usually prefer Korean versions over Japanese versions (I find Korean smoother and less “staccato” than Japanese), but that hasn’t been the case with Jumping. It could partly be because I heard the Japanese version first and I haven’t listened to the Korean version so many times yet. But one thing that “bothers” me with the Korean version of the song is the excessive repetition of the same words. Did they run out of lyrics? :? Don’t get me wrong, though. I still love it.

Jumping is the title track of KARA’s latest Korean mini-album.

Raven was released on Do As Infinity’s single Yesterday & Today back in the year 2000 and was later included on their first album. The song was used in the closing credits of the movie Uzumaki. I bought that movie on DVD years ago, but I still haven’t watched it  . It seems creepy.

I should probably warn sensitive viewers that the music video contains many clips from Uzumaki, which is a horror movie.

It’s not so much the video I want to share as the song itself (although Van-chan looks great in the video). It’s one of my favourite DAI songs.

The reason I’m posting this “all of a sudden” is that this song came up in a random playlist I was singing along to a while back. I really like it, especially chorus and the contrast between the verse and chorus. Singing along to this song works great as a tension releaser (for me at least).

This music video for It Hurts (아파) was released on Halloween. I just thought I’d start by stating that, since it’s very different from 2NE1’s other music videos.

It’s different but good. Normally when I feel like listening to 2NE1, I’m in the mood for something upbeat. It Hurts is one of their slow songs.

Whenever I go on a road trip I bring YUI’s Daydreamer with me. It’s such a nice song (especially when you’re driving on the open road).

This video is from YUI 3rd Tour 2008 “oui” ~I LOVED YESTERDAY~, which was included on the bonus DVD that came with the limited edition of her B-side collection album My Short Stories. The Japanese limited edition is out of print, but the Hong Kong version is still available. I recommend that album to anyone.

The Daydreamer track is included on the I Loved Yesterday album.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of the non-plagiarized tracks on Hyo-ri’s latest album H-Logic.

This video was banned from being broadcast on KBS. The reason for the ban is hilarious. It was because of traffic violations displayed in the video   .

“Hyori was seen driving a truck without her seat belt fastened on, dancers were dancing on top of the buses and Hyori and the dancers were dancing on the road. All of these scenes were inappropriate and violate road traffic regulations.” (allkpop)

The song is actually surprisingly good. I had given up on Hyo-ri a couple of years ago. But this isn’t bad at all.

FIRST is 4Minutes latest Japanese song. It has a different sound from 4Minute’s other songs. At first I thought it sounded like a song written for another artist that was then “4Minute-ified”.

The song is pretty catchy though, and it gets better with each listen.

Notable in the video is that Ji-yoon now has long hair and there’s an “interesting” choreography  .
