Sulli of f(x) is starring in the upcoming drama series To the Beautiful You (아름다운 그대에게), which is an adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana-Kimi. Looks very interesting to me. It’s about a girl who idolizes a high-jumper. When he gives up on high-jumping the girl wants to transfer to his school to help him get back. The problem is that it’s an all-boys school, so she disguises herself as a boy to be able to enter.
Co-starring with Sulli is Min-ho from SHINee. There are also members from ZE:A, Infintite and EXO in the drama. The drama is produced by SM Entertainment (as the cast hints at) on SBS.

I’m not sure how convincing Sulli looks as male, though. A bit too pretty perhaps
.
I haven’t read this particular manga, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read one with a similar plot. All I can come up with is Pretty Face, but that’s not really the same thing. *google google* Ah, it was called “Power”. I read it in a manga magazine, not in books. I’m sure there are others too. I’ve gotten the feeling that having a girl join a boys school or vice versa seems to be pretty common in manga stories.
The first episode will air on the 15th. The drama is directed by Jun Ki-sang, who directed Boys over Flowers and My Girl (which I haven’t seen yet, but they’ve been very popular).
I haven’t watched any dramas in a while. I have a bunch of them on my mental to-watch list. There are so many dramas now starring K-Pop idols too. There’s Suzy’s drama Big. Eun-jung and So-yeon from T-ara have their dramas (maybe?). And there are a bunch of others too. Might give this one a go.

We’ll have to wait for the drama to air to see what it’s like, but the trailer has a very Japanese feel to it. Even the theme song sounds like something from a J-drama.

wow from HanaKimi?? Well, I hope this one is better than HanaKini 2011 which lots of IDOL stuff. I really love HanaKimi anyway!

I haven’t seen the Japanese drama versions. This Korean version is very idol heavy too, but I have a good feeling about it for some reason. Might be coloured by the fact that I like Sulli. We’ll see how it turns out.
