Site news

I’ve been thinking about whether or not to write anything about the reasons why I haven’t been updating the blog for a long while, but I think I’ll just leave it at: I had to prioritize what I wanted to focus on and I had to give up many of my hobbies. This blog being one of them. Now things have calmed down a bit, so I can give you a quick recap of things I’ve done the past year and a half.

One of the few things I kept doing was studying Korean. Not at a high pace or anything. It’s just a weekend class. I’m learning slowly but steadily and I really like my classmates. They’re very cool and friendly.

Last year I went to see 4Minute when they had a showcase here in Sweden. … Continue reading

Last year YUI released new versions music videos for Feel my soul and Good-bye days consisting of old footage from her debut years. It’s interesting to see these old clips of her. I found new love for this and many of her other songs after listening to the covers on the She loves you album. When I watched her perform this song at her last live as YUI at the CDTV new year’s show, I thought that the captions were wrong, so I checked the CD booklet. Turns out that I’ve been singing the wrong lyrics all this time  .

And appropriately last: Good-bye days. It’s one of my favourite songs. I love how you get to see YUI smile a lot in this video. I hope there’s more where that came from in her future projects.

These are the last PSP videos I’ll post. Like YUI, I’m moving on to something else. The blog will remain. There just won’t be any new PSP videos for download. Six years is plenty and I’m looking to focus my energy elsewhere.

This site will see some downtime tonight and perhaps more this weekend. The database might be down while some pages are still up, so comments you post might not be saved during this period (if you see an error message, it wasn’t saved).

The reason for this is that my web host is moving my site to a new platform, which should be more robust, so long downtimes due to power outages that we’ve seem recently won’t happen.

I have an old (and long) list of improvements that I would like to make to this site. I haven’t been in the mood to fix any of them for a long while, but now I’ve improved the search feature a little. When you search for something on the blog, you also get matching tags and categories at the top of the search page.

The matching is pretty forgiving and should help when people for example search for “taeyeon” when I’ve written “Tae-yeon” in the posts. Then they can both see my spelling and click the tag right away.

You’ll see duplicate matches when there’s a tag and category with the same name (re-organizing the categories is another project I haven’t gotten around to). In the future I might add some alternative spellings, so that people can search in Korean and Japanese too.

This will mostly help new visitors, but I felt like mentioning it.

Due to the recent stability issues, my web host is moving their servers to another location. The expected downtime is between 19:00-22:00 CET. The site might be up intermittently during this time, but might not be fully functional. Check my twitter (@perberglund) for updates if it takes longer than specified.

The blog was down for several hours this evening. The reason for this was a(nother) power outage at the server centre where this blog is hosted. Sorry for the downtime.

Like some of you noticed the blog was offline for most of Sunday. The reason for this was a power outage at the server center where this site is hosted. Just thought I’d let you know if you were wondering (and not following me on twitter). Everything is back to normal now.

I’ve updated the site today so that if you click the thumbnail image for a video the download starts. Previously the preview images were shown when you did this.

Let me know if you experience any problems related to this.

It’s supposed to work like this: if you hover the mouse pointer over the image you should see a download icon. When  you click it, it should say “loading…” and the download should start. Then the “loading…” message should disappear after a few seconds.

I tweaked the download script a little so you can watch the videos on this site on iPhone. Skipping ahead also works. If you want to save them you still have to download on your computer and add to your iTunes library. I’ll update the FAQ after X-mas ;)

edit: seems like I over-promised here. While it kind of works, more traffic is logged than is actually used when you stream the videos to iPhone, so I’m blocking it for the time being (or you’ll end up hitting your bandwidth limit too soon). You can still download via PC or Mac and add the video via iTunes though.

As an experiment I’ve started tweeting. I’m still trying to get a hang of it, but if you want you can follow me on Twitter. It’s open for everyone.

I’ve also decided to open up my Facebook account from being close friends only to allow online friends (J-Pop/K-Pop fans) too. I’m tweeting in English and my tweets gets posted on Facebook too, so it’s basically the same updates in both places. I still need to approve the friend request on Facebook, so it’d be nice if you wrote that you came via this blog and your alias, if you’ve posted comments.
