Soju

Ever since I started watching Korean movies, I’ve wanted to taste Soju. It looks like it could be pretty disgusting, but I want to try it anyway. :)

The problem has been that soju isn’t available in Sweden. You can get it at Korean restaurants (which aren’t aplenty), but it isn’t available at bars or “Systembolaget” (the Swedish Alcohol Retailing Monopoly, the one and only liquor store chain in Sweden). You can’t even special order it unless you find an importer yourself that can supply Systembolaget with the items you want.

A while ago I, more or less by chance, found an importer that carries soju and today I got the two bottles of Jinro Chamiseul soju that I had ordered (as depicted)! :D

I haven’t tasted it yet, but soon…

edit: now I’ve tasted it

I went to eat some sushi for lunch today at a place near my office. It’s been a while since I last ate sushi for some reason.

In the restaurant they were playing some typical unidentifiable piano music in the background. The couple next to me were talking about some party or event and what music they would use and I started to think about the music I like and thought: “How come they never play J-Pop or something along those lines in places like this”.

As soon as I had finished the thought, they started playing Secret by Ayumi Hamasaki. I must have looked pretty shocked when I looked up from my huge sushi plate  . After that song they went back to the generic piano music.

I just started practising martial arts again. I haven’t done that in several years, and haven’t worked out at all in about 2-3 years (if you don’t count riding a bicycle).

Last weekend I decided that I needed to “do something” and I got the idea to try Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Luckily the club was just starting a new beginner’s course and I even got a friend to join me. He wanted to try muay thai rather than BJJ, so we decided to try both. […] there’s more! »

It’s apparently blackout season here. There’s been some snowfall and yesterday the whole town went dark the entire evening. Today the snowfall continued, and well the snow from yesterday was still there, so there was another blackout.

Chrome

I just tried the beta of Google’s web browser Chrome. It’s super fast! I normally use Firefox 3 and Chrome is much much faster. Given, I run a bunch of add-ons for FireFox.

You can try it out here (for Windows XP/Vista only)

I see a couple of visual boo-boos on my site, but that might just as well be my mistake (I’m not as good at doing cross-browser testing as I used to be).

update: I’ve noticed that, though it’s fast, the difference isn’t as huge at home as it was at work. At work I have a Core2 duo processor and 100Mbit line and at home I have a measly Celeron and 10Mbit (+ I’m on wireless). It makes sense that Chrome, with it’s several processes, would run faster on a dual core processor. The lousier connection also affects the speed since response times are longer, etc.

Like last year, I’ve test-driven some cars during my vacation. I drove so (relatively) many this year, so I thought I’d write down some of my impressions. All the cars are the latest model. I drove all cars the same route which is a stretch of curvy road in a residential area where I used to live, then a very curvy paved country road, and last a stretch of highway.

Totally random. A co-worker sent me a link to this test. I used to be very fast at typing. I think I’m a little rusty.

This is just a totally random topic. I recently moved to another city where I had gotten a new job and the cost of the move, double rents, etc. has put a rather big dent in my wallet. Normally I order stuff from YesAsia regularly, but now I’ve made one order in 6 months. Here’s a list of stuff I want but can’t afford right now: […] there’s more! »
