I’ve been kind of detached from Ayu’s music for a while, but listening to Mirrorcle World sucked me right back in. The PV was shot in Paris (obviously). The song is stronger than the PV though.

Dearest is one of my favourite Ayu songs, if not the favourite. This PV is also one of the first I watched when I started listening to Ayu back in 2003, along with M and Evolution (also coming up). Ayu looks fantastic in this PV!

Since it’s Ayu’s 10th anniversary as artist this year, I thought I’d post some Ayu stuff on the site. I’m almost ashamed about how few Ayu related posts I’ve made this far.

Each year Ayu releases an über-symbolic ballad PV right before christmas. This time it’s the song Together When…

I love the more symbolic of Ayu’s PVs, and this one is a great example of that. I was so disappointed in her last PV where everything seemed mediocre and fake. I couldn’t make myself post it here. I remember thinking that Together When… sounded nice when I first listened to the song, but the PV takes it to another level. And Ayu looks great in it (just look at the thumbnail below).

Two of my favourite artists are releasing Best of albums soon. Ayu is releasing her A Best 2 - white and A Best 2 - black, that are two best of CDs with different songs. The black version has one new song called Part of me. Both versions come as CD only or in a bundle with two DVDs containing the PVs for the songs and a documentary film from CDL 06-07. Ayu’s new albums go on sale February 28. I think I’m going to wait for the overseas version though because I have bought so many CDs recently and I have most of the material already (songs and PVs).

One month later, on March 28, Ai Otsuka is releasing her first Best of album 愛 am Best. Some have called this “just a singles collection”, which is more or less true, but it also comes with a DVD that, as far as I understand, contains all the PVs for the songs on the album. I’ve been wishing for an Ai PV collection, so I’ll get this album (though I’ll probably get the overseas version for this one as well).

Yesterday Ayumi Hamasaki’s interview on Talk Asia on CNN was aired. It’s very interesting and Ayu talks English in some parts of the interview!

I got this file from jpopsuki (see link below). This file is smaller and has better quality than the BoA interview I posted earlier.

There’s no direct download this time since I’m running out of space. I’ll get more space in January. Again I’ve split the file into parts of about 50 MB. You’ll need WinRAR to extract the video file if you download it in parts.

November 29th Ayumi Hamasaki’s new album Secret is coming out. I must admit that I haven’t been as “in to” Ayu as before this past year. I haven’t even heard all the singles and I found a couple of the songs that I have heard pretty poor. The good news is that this is a full length album which means it contains some brand new songs. It also comes (as previous Ayu albums) with a DVD with all PVs and “making of”. I’m actually quite excited about this album (more than I expected).

I really like the cover of Secret! I might even get the CD+DVD+Poster version (hoping that the poster is the same as the CD+DVD cover).

And then in January BoA’s next Japanese album and Ai Otsuka’s next concert DVD is coming out! I noticed today that the SEK has grown much stronger against the USD, so it’s time to shop shop shop!

Finally there are some previews of Ayu’s 2007 calendar! It looks very nice. Much better than BoA’s in my opinion. I think I’ll be ordering this one. The only picture that doesn’t really do it for me is the September-October one. She had a similar picture in her 2005 calendar and I didn’t particularly like that either.
But this means trouble for me. I was thinking about replacing my BoA calendar with an Ai Otsuka poster, but now this Ayu calendar would be perfect there as well
