IU

Last week IU released a new single in Korea called Spring of a twenty year old (스무 살의 봄), which consists of three songs. The title track Every end of the day (하루 끝), IU’s own composition Peach (복숭아), which had a digital release before the full single release and finally I really don’t like her (그 애 참 싫다).

IU isn’t promoting these songs on the music shows as she’s focusing on her upcoming solo concert, but Every end of the day still topped the online charts when it came out.

As the title of the single suggests, IU turns 20 this spring. In Korean age, that is. She turned 19 in “western age” on the 16th. Spring of a twenty year old is also the title of a short film which was released instead of a normal music video. It starts out in a documentary style where you get to follow IU during various activities, mixed with a personal interview. The second part is more of a short film of her trip to Venice, Italy. It also doubles as a music video for Every end of the day.

You can watch the film in its entirety here (no subtitles):

I made some clips for the music parts (three of them, keep scrolling :) ).

Star-seeking child (별을 찾는 아이) is a very nice ballad from IU’s latest Korean album (track 3). Here performed at SBS Inkigayo together with Kim Gwang-jin.

Just saw this picture of IU’s “official” pose when taking pictures. So cute! :D (click for bigger image)

PS. Kind of funny that the allkpop post is titled “IU is the V-terminator” and I was actually watching Terminator 2 when it was published :P

I just saw an article at Soompi, which had the following clip of IU singing the theme song for the Korean version of the anime Yumeiro Patissiere (꿈빛 파티시엘) back in 2010. I hadn’t seen it before. So cute! :D

Let’s start the new year the way we ended the last one: with an IU video :) .

This performance is also from Inkigayo. So cute! XD

IU finishes the year strongly with multiple wins on the Korean music charts. I think she has won everything she could win except that one M!Countdown that Trouble Maker snatched. Here’s a nice performance of You and I from Inkigayo a couple of weeks ago.

I like the camera work and editing. They seem to know their stuff at Inkigayo. I wonder how many takes they had to make to get all angles.

On the latest episode of Strong Heart, IU revealed that she felt like crying during her debut stage back in 2008. The reason was that the girls in the audience, who were there to see their boy bands, not only didn’t listen to her song, but instead started shouting things like “pig” to her.

Poor IU! What’s wrong with these people? Fine if they don’t cheer like crazy for others than their favourites, but to taunt an artist for no reason… A new artist just making her debut too. Stupid fangirls -_-.

You can hear the shouts in this clip from the broadcast

I just read this article at Soompi, which tells us that IU revealed her taste for raw liver on a TV show. It made me think of a Gumiho — a magical being, that feeds on human livers  .

It can freely transform, among other things, into a beautiful girl often set out to seduce men, and eat their liver.

I remembered it from the drama series Gumiho, starring Kim Tae-hee, from 2004.

I watched the last two episodes of Dream High again today. This clip was very suitable for posting. It’s IU’s character Pil-suk, who sings the song Dreaming. This is the song that IU changed the lyrics for on YHY’s Sketchbook.

The clip doesn’t contain any big spoilers, but since it’s the second last episode it’s a bit of a spoiler to see where the characters are at. Speaking of spoilers, the English subtitles on the DVD give away who “K” is a little too early in the final episode (they use “her/him” when referring to “K”).
