Last year YUI released new versions music videos for Feel my soul and Good-bye days consisting of old footage from her debut years. It’s interesting to see these old clips of her. I found new love for this and many of her other songs after listening to the covers on the She loves you album. When I watched her perform this song at her last live as YUI at the CDTV new year’s show, I thought that the captions were wrong, so I checked the CD booklet. Turns out that I’ve been singing the wrong lyrics all this time  .

And appropriately last: Good-bye days. It’s one of my favourite songs. I love how you get to see YUI smile a lot in this video. I hope there’s more where that came from in her future projects.

These are the last PSP videos I’ll post. Like YUI, I’m moving on to something else. The blog will remain. There just won’t be any new PSP videos for download. Six years is plenty and I’m looking to focus my energy elsewhere.

This song is from one of Ayu’s latest maxi singles called LOVE. It sounds like the old Ayu. I started listening to Ayu around the time Rainbow was released, but my favourite album was always I am. Missing sounds like it could have come from that era. It even has that harmony that goes into so many of Ayu’s songs. It’s also in Song 4 u, which is another track on the same single. That song also has a classic feel to it.

What better way than to start the new year with a comeback by SNSD? :D Their new album is now available digitally at online stores. I bought it off of iTunes and was listening to it on the train ride home from the New Year’s party.

At the same time, the music video for I Got a Boy was released. I kind of spoiled my initial spazzing by bugging my friend to play it at his house. Couldn’t really gush at that time.

The song is kind of fragmented. I enjoy twists and turns in songs, but this one is kinda like “I have no idea where the heck I’m going, let’s turn left!”. There’s a lot of different, contrasting parts competing for attention. Not very homogeneous or harmonious.

Tae-yeon looks so awesome in this video (as opposed to… never :) ). Yoon-a also looks great with her camo jacket. The drama parts of the video feel a bit out of place and doesn’t really match the overall mood of the rest of the song.

The part of the choreography that I like … Continue reading

Let’s all enjoy some calm Christmas music as Crayon Pop reminisce about their trip to Japan. Hmmm… it’s kind of hard to make a pun when you haven’t started watching the video yet :P . It’s Crayon Pop’s first song Bing Bing. Another really good song. The only thing I dislike is the English part.

They have a little Big time sensuality (Björk) thing going there with the dancing and singing on the back of a truck :) .

I’ve decided that my favourite members are (as usual, the main vocalists) So-yul (so cute) and Cho-a (the singing twin). I like Way (the rapping twin) too, when there’s more rapping in the song, like in Saturday Night.

Merry X-mas! :D

Today (the end of the world) SNSD started releasing teasers for their 4th Korean album. The album (and title track, I guess) is called I Got a Boy. They will make their comeback on January 1st and the album will be released the day after.

The first teaser video consists of the entire music video for the song Dancing Queen! :D

This song is kind of TaeTiSeo (sound) meets Gee (looks). It’s a remake of the song Mercy by Duffy, but with new Korean lyrics. I like it! :D It’s a bit nostalgic in the way the girls all have the same hairstyles as they did when promoting Gee. At the end of the video we get to see a short teaser for I Got a Boy, which sounds like it’ll be something completely different.

Ohh… Now I’ve read that a lot of the footage in Dancing Queen is actually from 2008 and that the song was intended to be released back then, but couldn’t due to copyright issues. No wonder it looks so Gee-like.

Dancing Queen is already out on iTunes.

Girls’ Generation also started releasing teaser photos. … Continue reading

I’m still enjoying Crayon Pop’s sweet energetic songs. I get the feeling that their songs are mixed a bit differently than other groups I’m listening to. Crayon Pop sound more bass-y in my headphones. I played them at a party last weekend and a buddy of mine seemed to like them too :) .

Saturday Night was Crayon Pop’s second song. The video is silent in the beginning, so don’t crank up your volume. The song doesn’t start until they get out of the van.

The version used in the video (excluding the intro) is the Dubstep mix, which was included on their first mini-album. Have I already ranted about K-Pop “remixes”? It seems like the current standard for a “remix” is to make a carbon copy of the original song, except for one short break where something remixy is added. They should all be called the “99% like the original mix” :P . Rant over :) . That said, I like Saturday Night. Remix or not (they sound the same anyway ;) ).

Hold on to your sexual insecurity! Yohio is the lead guitarist of the Swedish visual kei band Seremedy. He’s now pursuing a solo career in Japan and is doing pretty well. I really like SKY☆LiMiT. It’s a good mix of pop and rock performed in Japanese by a Swedish guy wearing a lolita dress. What’s not to like? There’s even growling :) .

I saw Yohio in a Swedish newspaper not long ago. Then I watched some TV interviews. Apparently he’s going to compete in the song contest where the winner gets to represent Sweden in the Eurovision song contest. He won’t be singing in Japanese, though. Unfortuntaly. Would’ve been cool and different.

I almost saw Seremedy once, but I think I was out of town when they played here.

Yohio will be releasing his first full-length solo album this spring and I heard that it will be released in English in the EU and in Japanese in Japan. I definitely prefer the sound of the Japanse lyrics. … Continue reading

Younique Unit is a group put together by SM Entertainment for a Hyundai commercial (don’t know about any future plans for the group). It consists of Hyo-yeon (SNSD), Tae-min (SHINee), Eun-hyuk (Super Junior), Henry (Super Junior-M), Kai (Exo-K) and Luhan (Exo-M).

I’ve listened to their song Maxstep and I really like it. Sounds really nice when listening on headphones. I listened to the song before watching the video. The DBSK-esque sound and having seen a lot of tweets about the awesome dancing I had pretty high expectations.

I found the choreography a bit disappointing. I had imagined something more bad ass, powerful and advanced. From what I heard, this was supposed to be a “dance group” so I thought they’d go all out in that department. The dancing feels more like SHINee than DBSK (which I was expecting). It kind of takes the edge off the song when the audio goes “Rooar!” and in the video the dude’s like “meow :3″.

I’m not digging SNSD’s Japanese singles lately. I liked Mr. Taxi (+ several songs from their first Japanese album) and their ballads, but Paparazzi and the new song Flower Power aren’t doing it for me.

I was cautiously optimistic after seeing the concept photos, but I don’t even like the outfits in the video. I mean, I like Yoon-a’s “normal”/fancy outfit that flashes by a couple of times, but the “stewardess” outfits look really cheap imo (more like “sexy nurse at Halloween”).

The good points about this video is that Yoon-a and Yu-ri look great. Especially Yoon-a, but she’s getting most time on screen I think.

I saw a comment on youtube about the lyrics, but I don’t know if I should write it here. It’s one of those things that can’t be unheard  .

I hope their Korean comeback will be nothing like this, to he honest.

K.Will’s latest music video 이러지마 제발 (Please don’t) features Da-som from Sistar. She’s one of the two members that are kind of overshadowed by Hyo-rin and Bo-ra. The other one is… So-yu. Da-som looks very pretty here. K.Will sure knows how to broaden the audience for his videos. It seems like he always has girl group members (or IU) in his music videos (or perhaps those are just the ones I watch). The first time I heard of him was when SNSD’s Yu-ri was in his video.

I really like this video. It seems pretty run-of-the-mill, but *spoiler* there’s a twist at the end.

You might recognize the main actor Seo In-guk, who was part of the main cast of the drama Reply 1997/Answer to 1997 and also appeared in Love Rain (I haven’t seen either of those dramas yet). The other guy is a model named Ahn Jae-hyun.
