Let me preface this by saying: What the flying f***?!

CCM, T-ara’s agency, announced today that they’re terminating Hwa-young’s contract and she has now left T-ara. There were a lot of rumours flying around leading up to this. It went something like this (from my perspective): Hwa-young got injured and couldn’t perform at T-ara’s concerts in Japan. Then some of the other members made tweets about dedication, that could be seen as an attack on Hwa-young. See the translation here. Then Hwa-young was kicked out.

The press release reads like a continuous stream off bullshit. It offers no explanation. It basically says that … Continue reading

I’m kind of torn when it comes to T-ara’s latest mini-album Day by Day. I like the overall feel of the title track and I like the rap, but the awkward English part of the lyrics ruins it for me. The rest of the mini-album is pretty good. No favourites yet, but I like how Hwa-young really has grown into her role as rapper. Sounds great.

The music video was released in the form of a short film as well as a dance version.

She short film is really nice. We get to see Hyo-min trying to protect the blind Da-ni (new member) from Ji-yeon in a future broken world. Very nicely made. I guess we’ll have to wait until the second part to see Eun-jung’s character, which looks bad-ass. I suspect that the other new member A-reum also will be appearing in part two.

It’s kind of funny how Ji-yeon’s character in the film looks so cool, but when she talks in the behind the scenes footage she’s so cute! XD

For the download I cut away the intro and the behind the scenes:

The dance version is horribly cut. They should’ve put a warning at the beginning discouraging people suffering from epilepsy from watching. Rapid cuts and strobe flashes? How is that a good way to show off the choreography?

T-ara are coming back next week with Day by Day. A teaser for the music video was just released. It looks pretty cool! Seems like it’s going to be another short movie style music video taking place in a dystopian future. The style looks almost Final Fantasy VII-y. Eun-jung looks pretty bad-ass. The video also shows the two new members of T-ara, Da-ni and A-reum.

I’m liking the little we get to hear of the song. Going to be a great comeback, no doubt.

After finishing Secret Garden, I started watching Dream High 2. It takes place in the same art school as the first Dream High, but a lot has changed. The school has lost its status and is going down the drain when an entertainment company buys it out and sends its own artists, who have been banned from performing for violating a new law prohibiting under-age artists from performing late at night, to attend the school for the time being. It’s not entirely clear what the exact reasoning behind this is.

The actors are all different with the exception of JYP and a few cameo appearances by the original cast.

The main character is Hae-seong, played by Kang So-ra. I recognize her from the movie Sunny. She’s really cute and funny. … Continue reading

Who came up with this concept? “You’re not going home until you give me something that hasn’t been done before in K-Pop!”

Poor 5Dolls (or is it all of Co-Ed School?) get bitten and turned into zombies while T-ara dance and sing  .

I can’t help but smile watching this video. It’s so weird and funny. Plus, I like the Lovey-Dovey dance.

I really dig Eun-jung’s outfit with the spiky hair band.

Speed is a sub-unit consisting of the male members from Co-ed School. Here’s the music video for their cover of T-ara’s Lovey-Dovey, featuring Hwa-young from T-ara and, just to mess with our minds, Hwa-young’s twin sister Hyo-young from 5Dolls/Co-ed School.

I can’t say I like the cover all that much, but Hyo-young & Hwa-young look great here! You can tell them apart in this video by the hair style and colour. I’m pretty sure that the one we see the most is Hyo-young (please, let me be right about this  ). She has a dimple on her left cheek and a small mole under her right eye (here covered by her hair). We actually don’t see Hwa-young much at all except in a few short cuts, most of which are at the end of the video (assuming that my theory is correct).

Today when I got home from work, feeling a bit under the weather, I checked my mail box and saw a package slip. “I haven’t ordered anything…” I had forgotten that I made a K-Pop/K-Movie order a week ago, so it was a pleasant surprise :) .

I got T-ara’s latest mini-album Funky Town, the Mr. Taxi version of SNSD’s The Boys and the movie Sunny. I got the Tae-yeon (Toy Story) peas in a pod plushie a while back, but it made its way into the picture anyway :) . … Continue reading

Last week I went to France to see a horde of K-Pop artists perform at Music Bank in Paris. A total of eight groups performed: Girls’ Generation, T-ara, 4Minute, Sistar, SHINee, U-Kiss, Beast and 2PM. I went there mostly for SNSD, T-ara and 4Minute.

I flew to Paris the same day as the concert. I had already been there for SMTown back in June, so I felt like I wouldn’t have any trouble finding my way around the city. Besides, I had booked a numbered seat for the concert. I had a seat for the first day and a standing ticket for the second day. Unfortunately the second day of the concert was cancelled. It would’ve been great to do both.

The venue was much bigger than SMTown. The good seats at SMTown were much better than the good seats at Music Bank. While SMTown was more intimate, everything at Music Bank went very smoothly. They didn’t have much concert goods though.

It was nice to see so many groups, but since there were so many of them they didn’t perform that many songs each. SNSD didn’t perform until the very end, so it felt like they didn’t get enough time on stage. … Continue reading

A couple of “classic” live performances by T-ara for the people who aren’t seeing them at Music Bank in Paris tomorrow :) .

Watching these lives solidifies So-yeon and Eun-jung as my top 2 favourite members. To be fair, all members aren’t present here, since this is the collaboration they with Supernova, but still… So-yeon ♥ :)

T-ara is currently topping the Korean charts with Lovey-Dovey (Go T-ara!). Another track from their latest album is We were in love (우리 사랑했잖아), which is a collaboration between some members (So-yeon, Ji-yeon, Hwa-young & Hyo-min) from T-ara and Davichi.

I really like this video (and the song too). It’s very simple and pretty much only consists of close-up shots, but it’s mostly of So-yeon, so I like it :) . Hwa-young doesn’t rap until the end of the song, but she does it like a boss :) . I really like her new look.

Eun-jung isn’t in this song though. Otherwise all my favs would’ve been in it. Speaking of Eun-jung, she recently fell and injured her knee pretty badly :( . So, she most likely won’t be coming to Paris with the others. It’s a shame, because I was looking forward to seeing her, but I hope her knee heals up well.
